Grand Prix Snooker Final: Fu vs. O'Sullivan

What a weekend of sport we have had. Last night we had the final of the World Rugby, which seen England lose out to South Africa. This afternoon, we seen the final of the Formula One, with Lewis Hamilton losing out to Kimi Raikkonen of Ferrari. This evening, Britains hopes now lie with Ronnie O'Sullivan as he takes on Marco Fu of China, in the Grand Prix Snooker final in Aberdeen.

Last night we watched the snooker semi-final with Marco Fu beating Gerard Greene in what was some fantastic snooker. It is a shame however the auditorum was completely empty. I can only put this down to a semi-final between two relatively unknown players. However, they missed out on some real tense and nailing biting snooker. Fu fought back after Greene took a very comfortable frame lead, with all ending finally at 6 frames to 5. There was no shame in Greene's play.

With the afternoon's final, O'Sullivan, who hasn't won a world ranking title in over 30 months starts off very strong but loses the first few frames. Fu, then drops back a little and lets Ronnie in to really start to knock in some sizable breaks including one of 127.

Fu is really fighting back here, with some wonderful snooker being played out. This is Fu's first final in some 9 years and he's playing world class snooker here to show that he deserves to be here. Speaking of world class players, he had to actually knock out the current world champion, John Higgins to get here.

Let us not rule Ronnie out just yet, the man can play snooker when he concentrates. The times he has to leave the table where largely down to rookie mistakes. Just being too quick and not taking his time.

A very interesting match continues.

Fu wins the Grand Prix; 9 frames to 6. An absolute fantastic match.
