Do not download Google Earth if you value your productivity, it will draw you in and have you jumping all over the globe, zooming in and out, tilting, rotating and following those dark streets you always wondered where they lead.
Kirk and I spent a significant amount of time last night trading email google-earth hyperlinks that instantly flew us to the others location. This got me thinking. What a wonderful platform to build a great treasure hunt game. Here is how I think it would work:
Kirk and I spent a significant amount of time last night trading email google-earth hyperlinks that instantly flew us to the others location. This got me thinking. What a wonderful platform to build a great treasure hunt game. Here is how I think it would work:
- Say Coca-Cola ran this as a PR campaign. The first clue would be "Where the real-taste comes from?" and this would take you to their head offices in Atlanta. When you get to the building, there will be a pin on it that will describe the next clue.
- So this is the easy part, putting pins on the map for everyone to read is a cool feature of Google Earth, but that means they are searchable so people could cheat. But since you have photographic arieal pictures you can use landmarks for your next clue. Say "Take the number of cars parked in the nearest Walmart to this location, follow Highway X for that number of junctions and turn left." and so on and so on.

Well, perhaps after a long time this may actually come to be! The site http://www.monugi.com solves the problem of cheating by using a server based solution to deliver consecutive placemarks (pins). You may even create your own adventures!
Great idea.. but it's only idea, not real thing. How can you bring this idea to reality? Serge Brin can..)
The game is a great idea. I am co-owner of a war game using Google Earth. Even the war game is a good teaching tool...somewhat. Don't let the idea be wasted...go for it.
"google earth warming" would be a nice idea. Predict the areas that will be covered by sea in 10 yrs
i think one day google will implement this in something like hunt.google.com :).
Hmm, got me thinking... google earth and games... I'll just wait for someone to come up with civilization on google earth.
I think there are better ways of teaching. Moreover, imagine the amount of abuse you preparing on that software with that game.
Agree - this is a cool toy and they seem to have the ability to comeup with something different. Hope they continue doing so.
btw - a few of my friends attempted to download Google Earth this morning but it was no longer available. Guess they need to still work on scaling their site.
