Cloud bootcamp with special guest appearance

We have been very busy preparing the upcoming cloud bootcamp we'll be hosting for a full day of hands on training in the wonders of cloud computing in San Jose.

The biggest problem we have is trying to figure out what to leave out, because we simply have too much to present. Attendees are going to get a real hands-on feel for how they can utilize the world of on-demand computing. It won't be a sit-back-and-listen day, it's a true hands-on, sleeves-rolled up full day.

We will be going through all aspects of cloud management, giving you a flavor of many of the different tools and techniques out there so you can decide which one fits in with your way of working, instead of feeling there is only one route to cloud nirvana.

One such tool we had planned on covering in depth is of course the very popular management console from RightScale. But instead of hearing about it from us, how about you see it straight from the horses mouth as they say?

We are excited to announce that their Co-Founder and CTO, Thorsten von Eicken, will be popping along to the bootcamp to give our attendees a complete hands-on demonstration on what the RightScale can offer.

Thorsten will be able to go through some of the popular use cases of RightScale and delve deeper into some of the edge cases. We will be demonstrating earlier on in the day how you can do the same things manually, that RightScale offer to do automatically. You will see both ends of the spectrum.

And if that's not enough, we'll also be looking at how you can build your own UI to the cloud environment, allowing you to hook into your existing control/management infrastructure.

We've got some other special activities and sneak peaks into some of the upcoming features from the likes of GoGrid and Flexiscale. Stay tuned.

Kathy, sorry to hear you missed it.

We will be doing another one in New York at the end of March at the Cloud Computing Expo.

Missed the Nov 20 Cloud computing bootcamp. When/where will the next bootcamp session occur?

It will be a little of both. We will be going through a whole host of technical detail that you can follow along with yourself depending on the provider. For example the Amazon AWS stuff you will be able to follow along with. The demo's will be REAL demo's. No precanned video casts!

There will be lots of configurations for you to pour over as we go through some of the options for doing things. For example load balancing has many different ways, we'll look at some but in detail.

Storage is another hot area, we'll be looking at real examples you can go back to your own servers and use immediately. You choose which provider suits you best, but we'll show you how to use the top ones.

The idea is to have you go away with choice. We don't want to simply present a single vendors offering or vision. We want to show you a wide range of stuff that works today, and show you logistically what you get when you use certain providers.

Hope this helps

Hi. Question: Will the bootcamp be focused on hands-on programming and management by the audience or will it be mainly detailed technical presentations and demos (preferred). Thanks, Assaf
