Beware of the Cloud Tax

If you've been flying in and out of the clouds, trying new services, you'll probably start noticing small amounts coming off your credit card every month.

These are of course for the tests you conducted, uploading an odd file here and there, spinning up an instance and shutting it down again.

Pennies in relief

But remember to shut down and delete all your test cases, otherwise, you'll be getting, what I affectionately refer to as the cloud tax. This is a small amount, literally pennies, that comes off your credit-card every month, paying for services no longer required.

I am pretty sure, this cloud tax is far more common than we are probably admitting to. Many an accountants head will be scratched trying to figure out where these micro-payments are coming from and why.

So for their sake at least, delete and shutdown the services after you've finished testing or evaluating. Free yourself from the chains of the tax.
